One night only, The Historic Ute Theatre in Saguache is proud to present acoustic guitar player, singer songwriter , Tom Dessain September 9th at 7:30 pm.  Tom is celebrating his 41st year as a guitarist and will e playing songs from then to now.  He will play original instrumentals and songs along with special favorites gathered over the years. Tom started playing guitar at the age of 15 after his first summer spent in Colorado with brother Kenny.  After returning to Texas, brother Ron lent him a guitar; never to be returned, and the fever has never left. A self-taught finger picker and performer for 19 years, he then studied classical guitar at Adams State College.  “Just trying to figure out what I was doing.”  Tom also taught music at the Crestone Charter School for 2 years and still teaches several students.

Tom founded Crestone Performances Inc. ten years ago, which produces the annual Crestone Music Festival, provides consulting and technical assistance to community endeavors, and produces cultural and educational  resentations in the 14 area school districts of the San Luis Valley.   So come on down to the Historic Ute Theatre at 410 4th  Street,  downtown Saguache and join Tom as he winds his way down memory lane.

  A dinner special of  BBQ wings and coleslaw will be available at 6:30 pm for $6

 68 West is a Select jazz ensemble.  This a cappella Group, under the direction of Dr. Beth Robinson, performs a wide variety of jazz and contemporary styles.  68 West has been featured in performances on campus, community events and in educational programs at San Luis Valley and Front Range schools.

Acoustic Blues is an instrumental and vocal group.  They have enjoyed performing their own eclectic arrangements of popular and jazz work.

Do you like to laugh? Of course you do!  ASC Theatre Dept.  has a newly formed Comedy Improv Troupe, “Don’t Feed Us After Midnight” who would love to make you laugh!  The troupe is led by Asst. Professor Jenna Neilsen, they perform both short form improvisation, such as can be seen on the hit comedy TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway,” and long form improve, which takes a suggestion from the audience and creates long improvised piece from the suggestion.
