INDI Movie: UN BRANDED Documentary pg13 Ben Masters, a young Texas horseman, set out to inspire adoptions for 50,000 wild horses and burros living in government captivity. He gathered three friends and hatched an outrageous plot to adopt, train and ride wild mustangs 3,000 miles from the Mexican border to Canada through the American West's wildest terrain. The trip is an epic journey of self-discovery, challenged friendships, and iconic landscapes that includes runaway horses, a sassy donkey, perilous mountain passes, rodeo rides, sickness, injury, and death. "Ain't nothing we can't do and damn little we won't try," was the motto during the Unbranded ride, an unprecedented journey reminiscent of the American Frontier. Sixteen mustangs, four men, one dream: to ride border to border, Mexico to Canada, up the spine of the American West. The documentary tracks four fresh-out-of-college buddies as they take on wild mustangs to be their trusted mounts, and set out on the adventure of a lifetime. Their wildness of spirit, in both man and horse, is quickly dwarfed by the wilderness they must navigate: a 3000-mile gauntlet that is equally indescribable and unforgiving. Wall Street Journal Joe Morgenstern Oct 2, 2015 100 What’s so fascinating about the film is that it truly turns on the solving of problems, and its chief solver, stuck on Mars, manages to be so funny, interesting and infallibly likable that you’re invested in his predicament at every moment.
Salon.com Andrew O'Hehir Oct 1, 2015 90 You can argue that the plot of The Martian doesn’t offer many surprises, but this is a movie of innumerable delightful moments and small discoveries, and even more of infectious enthusiasm.

What Happened to Mountain Bike Pioneer Mike Rust?
(Saguache, CO - June 29, 2015) The Rider & The Wolf is a feature length documentary about the life and mysterious disappearance of mountain bike pioneer Mike Rust who went missing without a trace in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. The film premiered at the famous Telluride Mountainfilm festival to sold out crowds and will be shown locally at The Historic Ute Theatre on Saturday, July at 4:30 and 6:30 pm.. Tickets are $10 and available online before the show throughhttps://www.eventbrite.com/d/local/the-rider-and-the-wolf/. Tickets will also be available at the door the day of the show.
Several of Mike Rust’s brothers will be on hand for the show and will host a question and answer session immediately following each screening.
Mike Rust first started mountain biking in Crested Butte in the late 1970s but moved to Salida in the mid-1980s to start Colorado Cyclery with fellow bike racer/builder Don McClung. They operated this bike shop for several years, creating the “Shorty” which was one of the most innovative mountain bikes ever built at the time. Today, one of their Shorty bikes hangs in the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in Fairfax, CA.
In the mid-1990s Rust moved to the remote San Luis Valley to practice a life of sustainability and he lived there until he went missing in 2009. Theories swirl around the reason for his mysterious disappearance, but his body has never been found.
The film details the early days of Rust’s mountain bike career and his fascination with sustainably living beyond the norms of society. Scenes from the documentary were filmed using bikes Rust and McClung built, on trails they first rode.
The film has been eagerly anticipated by the cycling community worldwide with shows scheduled as close as Crested Butte and as far away as Poland. The film received a Telluride Mountainfiilm Commitment Grant, making it only one of 5 films to win the award out of hundreds of professional applicants worldwide. Support was also provided by Oskar Blues Brewery, a Colorado company based in Longmont. Media coverage has been provided by National Geographic Adventure, Outside Television and Magazine, Mountain Flyer, Colorado Public Radio and many more. People want to know what happened to Mike the Bike.

The very words conjure enigmatic images of the Old West ~ of the thousands of towns and mining
that boomed and died during that brief era when men scrambled through unexplored territory, searching for the next big gold strike. Today, the old hotels and saloons stand in mute testimony to a fabled past, when prospectors came to gamble, find and lose a fortune, or die without revealing the location of a rich and elusive mine. Their tales
continue to fascinate and intrigue. And even haunt us... Written and Directed by
United States, the western frontier has remained that vast Unknown where epic adventures could and did occur. In truth, the history of the lands between the Great Plains and the Pacific Ocean is as complex as any masterwork of fiction, and as spectacular as the awe-inspiring vistas that served as its stage. One need only visit any of the near- forgotten sites that hide, isolated, out in the mountains and deserts of the American West to be filled with a sense of wonder.
My fascination with the subject began at the age of nine, when in a classroom 1,700 miles
from the distant Continental Divide I happened upon an adolescent mystery tale about a
ghost town and lost mine. Still it was not until as an adult, when I hiked into a silver
camp in the Elk Mountains, that the seed planted in my childhood sprouted and grew.
Standing before the weathered facade of an 1880s hotel, I could not help but feel that the
old building somehow stared back at me; and I wondered what those vacant windows had
seen in the days when the long abandoned town bustled with life and the mere rumor of a strike could send men scrambling through unexplored, trackless wilderness.
More than a century later, what remains of the towns and camps stand as visual echoes of a legendary history firmly embedded in the American consciousness; and it has been both my pleasure and honor for most of the past decade to walk their silent streets and
photograph the ghosts of their former selves

Aaron Huey is a photographer whose evocative and richly textured work has graced Mountainfilm’s gallery walls more than once. This short piece profiles his work at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, home to some 300 Lakota Sioux Indians. It’s a dark world of poverty and violence but one in which Aaron has allowed himself to be deeply drawn. Why? So that he can give voice to a people’s unspoken pain and suffering and the injustice that caused it and sustains it.
SMOKE SONGS 20 min Punk rock and human rights don’t necessarily share a common cause, but in the case of the band Blackfire, their music and their message are two integral parts of a solid and strong identity. Born into the heart of the Navajo Nation in an area on Black Mesa that is still in political dispute, band members (and siblings) Jeneda, Clayson and Klee Benally find it impossible to separate their passion for music from their socio-political messages. Mixing pure punk rock on electric equipment with Native American words, rhythm and sometimes dance, their music carries messages about government oppression, relocation of indigenous people, genocide and other rights issues that are often suppressed in this country’s dominant media culture — and their outreach doesn’t stop on the stage.

While swimming free in the ocean, a young dolphin becomes caught in a trap and severely damages her tail. Though she is rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, her tail cannot be saved, and her prognosis is dire. What the dolphin, now named Winter, needs is a miracle. She gets that miracle in the form of a marine biologist (Harry Connick Jr.), a prosthetics designer (Morgan Freeman), and a devoted boy (Nathan Gamble), who find a way to help Winter swim again.

Summary: Mississippi during the 1960s: Skeeter, a southern society girl, returns from college determined to become a writer, but turns her friends' lives--and a small Mississippi town--upside down when she decides to interview the black women who have spent their lives taking care of prominent southern families. Aibileen, Skeeter's best friend's housekeeper, is the first to open up—to the dismay of her friends in the tight-knit black community. Despite Skeeter's life-long friendships hanging in the balance, she and Aibileen continue their collaboration and soon more women come forward to tell their stories—and as it turns out, they have a lot to say. Along the way, unlikely friendships are forged and a new sisterhood emerges, but not before everyone in town has a thing or two to say themselves when they become unwittingly—and unwillingly—caught up in the changing times. 911 Memoriam FREE
In Memoriam, New York
City 9/11/01 on DVD
By Jim Bray
HBO’s documentary of that horrible day in the late summer of 2001 brings the
massacre and its aftermath right into your home theater, and in the process is
virtually guaranteed to both move and anger the audience.
The program is made up of footage of then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani,
who had a camera crew with him on what was supposed to be a fairly slow day for
him, relatively speaking. It’s augmented by interviews after the fact with
Giuliani and his advisors, as well as with spectacular footage of the day’s
events as they happened, collected from scores of amateur and professional
photographers and videographers who were in the right (or is it wrong?) place
at the right (or is it wrong?) time.
This is an emotional, visceral experience as we once again see the hijacked
airliners-cum-missiles attack the World Trade Center -

DOCUMENT PRODUCED ON THE EVENTS OF 9/11, September 14, 2002
This review is from: CNN
Tribute - America Remembers (DVD)
CNN's DVD "America Remembers" is without a doubt
the best document produced thus far on the events of September 11th, 2001. There should be copies in
every school library across the country to remember the events of this day in
the United States.
The story begins, of course, in the CNN newsroom and the first airline crash
in the north tower of the World Trade
Center. The rest of the DVD is an
incredible and very detailed timeline regarding the other plane crashes (in
NYC, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C.), the collapse of the World Trade Center
towers, the evacuation of various buildings in D.C., President Bush's story on
that day, the days following 9/11 including the president's speeches, the buildup
to war in Afghanistan in subsequent months, and even the threat of Anthrax in
the United States.
If you must witness this story again, especially on the anniversary of 9/11,
it might as well be thorough and accurate. This is the production to see.

9/2 9/3 9/4 FILM 7:00 PM COWBOYS AND ALIENS PG13
Based on the graphic novel by Scott
Mitchell Rosenberg, Cowboys & Aliens is set in 1800s Arizona,
where the local cowboys, headed by gunslinger Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig),
and the indigenous Apache tribe have been feuding fiercely for quite a while.
Their skirmish is interrupted, however, by the appearance of a spaceship,
commanded by an alien creature that's bent on enslaving the human race. It's
time for a six-gun shoot-out between these cattle rustlers and space invaders,
and there might even be a temporary peace between the cowboys and Indians as
they both take aim at these extraterrestrial uninvited guests. Jon Favreau
directs from a script by Star Trek
Kurtzman and Roberto Orci,
with help from Lost's
Ford, and Sam
Rockwell fill out the headlining cast. ~ Cammila Albertson, Rovi

Summary: Buck, a richly textured and visually stunning film, follows Brannaman from his abusive childhood to his phenomenally successful approach to horses. A real-life “horse-whisperer”, he eschews the violence of his upbringing and teaches people to communicate with their horses through leadership and sensitivity, not punishment. Buck possesses near magical abilities as he dramatically transforms horses – and people – with his understanding, compassion and respect. In this film, the animal-human relationship becomes a metaphor for facing the daily challenges of life. A truly American story about an unsung hero, BUCK is about an ordinary man who has made an extraordinary life despite tremendous odds. (Sundance Selects)

BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES pg13
Summary: It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl

Don't Cook! HOT DOGS- PIZZA- TAQUITOS
The film shows an eight-minute drive through Paris in the early
hours of the morning (05:30hrs), accompanied by sounds of a high-reving engine,
gear changes and squealing tires. It starts in a tunnel of the Paris Périphérique at Porte Dauphine, with an
onboard view from an unseen car exiting up on a ramp (and from there following this route) to Avenue Foch. Well-known landmarks
such as the Arc de Triomphe, Opéra
Garnier, and Place de la Concorde with its
obelisk are passed, as well as the Champs-Élysées. Pedestrians
are passed, pigeons
sitting on the streets are scattered, red lights
are ignored, one-way streets are driven up the wrong way, center lines are
crossed, the car drives on the sidewalk to avoid a rubbish truck. The car is
never seen as the camera seems to be attached below the front bumper (judging
from the relative positions of other cars, the visible headlight beam and the
final shot when the car is parked in front of a curb on Montmartre,
with the famous Sacré Cœur Basilica behind, and out
of shot). Here, the driver gets out and embraces a young blonde woman as bells
ring in the background, with the famous backdrop of Paris.

Summary: Rise of the Apes is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.
